Balbriggan Library - A Great Resource on Your Doorstep!

03-Feb-12: In 2011 there were 187,227 visits to Balbriggan Library, 148,157 books were borrowed and Library users spent 25,973 hours on our free public pcs.

Please support the library by encouraging family and friends to join as well. Its free to join, free to borrow and all our events are free.

Here are some classes/events taking place in the Library over the coming weeks:

Improvers Irish

A free intermediate Irish class will start on Wednesday 8th February from 6.00pm-8.00pm and run for a minimum of 8 weeks.

This course is suitable for anyone who has good basic/beginners knowledge of Irish.

Researching your Irish Ancestry

A free talk by John Grenham. Thursday 23rd February 6.30pm -8.00pm.

Numbers are limited so booking is essential.

Paper/Silk Flower making workshop for adults

This free workshop will take place at 11am on one of the mornings in February— exact day to be confirmed.

New Scrabble Club

Would you be interested in attending a scrabble club for adults on Mondays at 11.00am?

If so please leave your name at the adult desk or call us at 8704401.

If we then get enough interest we’ll get back to you with a start date.


Art Workshop for Adults

Monday 6th February 6.00pm- 8.00pm with artist Derek Zeuss—go home with a completed painting!

Just supply your own blank canvas (some €uro shops sell them) If you have paint & brushes bring them along, if not Derek will supply them for the workshop.

Charles Dickens Bicentenary

7th February 2012 is the 200th anniversary of Charles Dickens’s birthday.

Events and competitions will be taking place in all our libraries throughout the year.

During February a selection of Dickens classics will be on display in Balbriggan Library.


Knitting & Crochet classes

These classes take place every Tuesday evening at 7.30pm, all are welcome.

 


Chess Club

Chess Club Every Second Thursday 6.00pm -8.00pm: 2nd & 16th February.

Adults and children are welcome


Exhibitions
An exhibition of paintings by artist Jackie Roy featuring local scenes will be on display in the library from Monday 30th January- Saturday 11th February.
