ALMC Motor Club's spring
Endurance Trial which takes place on Saturday the 18th February has attracted
a strong entry with many of the now regular trial competitors returning to the
event along with a number of debutants. The event is based at the Luttrellstown
Castle Resort Golf Club in north Co. Dublin with the nearby Luttrellstown estate
playing host to a series of trials including the night trial which will round
off the event on Saturday evening. The event will feature some of the more popular
trial venues from last year and will also include new trial sites in Collon, Slane,
Navan and Dunshaughlin with competing crews returning to Luttrellstown later that
evening.

for the event are filling up fast with the club expecting to start a maximum of
seventy cars on the day. Last year’s winner Eamonn Byrne will not take
part this year as he is attending an Autotest event in the UK therefore leaving
open the opportunity to one of the other hopeful crews. Piers
MacFheorais in his Mazda MX5 with Ian McCulloch alongside will return to the event
along with Karl O'Donoghue and Padraig Farrell in their Rover 200. Other notable
entries include a number of Rallycross regulars Dermot Carneige who has teamed
up with Paul Bosdet in a Ford Escort MK1 and George Treacy who with George junior
will take to the trials in the ex Noel Devlin left hand drive Skoda Felicia. The
Retro crew of Ted and Karen Gaffney have also entered the event in their Volkswagen
Golf GTI with Ted's son Glyn joining forces with Alan Dolan to take part in their
Toyota Celica. A number of ladies will do
battle on the event with circuit racer turned Auto-tester and Endurance Trial
regular Patricia Denning fielding her Toyota Starlet with former stages co-driver
Joe Downey taking up the navigators seat. Lyndsay Doran fresh from her role as
CoC for the New Year multi venue Autotest will take to the wheel of her Toyota
Starlet with guidance from Barry Treacy.
Noel Devlin CoC of the club stages rally will compete in this year’s event having
played an important role in the running of last years, he will be joined by stages
event secretary Deirdre Gallagher. Photographer and well known historic rally
driver Frank Fennell has entered in his Mercedes Benz 220 Seb Coupe, he will be
accompanied by retro regular Frank Hussey, while former Billy Coleman award winner
Robert Barrable will swap his Skoda S2000 for a Toyota Starlet for the event hoping
to build on his success at last years event. The
event will start at 11am with scrutiny and drivers briefing taken place prior
to the start The crews will then head for the tests with a lunchtime stop scheduled
for 1.30 followed by an afternoon packed with tests spread over counties Dublin,
Louth and Meath with the crews returning to the tea stop location prior to their
run through the night test. The first of the competing cars is due back in Luttrellstown
at 8.45pm with results and prize giving scheduled for shortly after 10pm. Full
