Advice and support for older people from SeniorLine – Coronavirus

SeniorLine FREEPHONE SERVICE 1800 804 591 has been the national confidential listening service for older people, run by volunteers since 1998. Covid 19 is a particular threat to older people and SeniorLine has put in place a number of protocols to support our many older callers. Any caller concerned about the Coronavirus/Covid 19 virus will receive the most up to date guidance as recommended by government sources.

old peopleALONE volunteers will not be visiting older people in their homes during the current situation, but they have set up a HELPLINE 0818 222 024 to give up to date advice on Coronavirus/Covid 19 and they will collect shopping for older people and assist in any way that they can. Please call 0818 222 024 if you are anxious or concerned about anything.

The World Health Organization have recommended that older people and people with underlying conditions;

  1. Keep regular routines as much as possible or create new ones 
  2. regular exercise 
  3. daily chores 
  4. other activities, ie gardening, painting, music, reading, etc.
