Ardgillan Community College awarded their first Amber FlagMay 21, 2019 ADMIN 0
Today Ardgillan Community College was awarded their first Amber Flag. Maebh Fitzpatrick and Keeva Tallon of Pieta house came to the school to hand over the flag and to be part of the flag raising ceremony. This flag symbolises that Ardgillan is proactive in Mental Health Awareness.
The Amber Flag committee have worked hard all to promote Positive Mental Health in the school. They set out 4 goals for the year.
- To establish an Amber Flag noticeboard to promote Positive Mental Health in Ardgillan.
- To organise a Positive Mental Health week in the school.
- To introduce the Headstrong programme to Ardgillan and to speak to all the classes and staff about our emotional well-being.
- To raise money for Pieta house.
In achieving all of these goals, Ardgillan has not only gained an Amber Flag but they have started a discussion on Mental Health in the school and they’ve started to break the stigma of Mental Health. The Amber Flag committee is showing everyone that Ardgillan is a school where students and staff look out for each other, we listen to each other and we support each other.
Well done to the Amber Flag team members – Ms Rooney, Ms Dunne, Ms Murray, Ms Fitzpatrick, Ms Ni Mhurchu, Emily Cathcart, Keelin Tapley, Dylan O’Neill, Niamh Ryan, Ronan Quill, Lucy Ellis, Stefan Simonovic.
