Friends of Autism and ADHD where delighted with the response to its course integrating children with Asperger’s into the mainstream class. The course explained from theory to practice, the implications for a child diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome in an educational setting. It gave practical examples of areas of difficulty a child may encounter, and practical tips and advice for parents and professional on how to help and support your child in school.
Mary Collins teaches in a mainstream school with 4 special classes for children diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome. These classes opened first in 2000 and Ms Collins started up the classes and taught in the classes for nearly 7 years. Mary completed her Masters in 2002 with a study on the educational provision for and needs of children diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome in East Leinster.
The course was partially funded by Friends of Autism and ADHD. Bernie Hagen and Katherine Moreland provided a huge amount of support to Friends of Autism and ADHD in ensuring the course went smoothly. Friends of Autism and ADHD would like to thank Mary Collins for providing such indebt teaching of Asperger’s , they would also like to thank all their volunteers, staff and customers for their continued support .
