Comic Frank Carson Passed Away at 85

Northern Irish comedian Frank Carson best known for the catch phrases “It’s a cracker” and “It’s the way I tell ’em”, has died aged 85. Carson had suffered from poor health and his family said he passed away at his home in Blackpool, Lancashire. The comic rose to fame in the 1960s after winning talent show Opportunity Knocks three times. He went on to appear in The Comedians and Tiswas. (more…)

There was a fantastic turnout at Loreto Secondary School in Balbriggan as 5th & 6th year students and their parents attended the well organised Careers fair. Colleges. Third Level Institutes and many business professionals where there to advice the students and students had the opportunity to ask questions to help them choose what path in life they will take. Giovanni Trapattoni launches FAI/Fingal County Council in conjunction with Swords Pavilions grassroots initiative – “The Road to Poland”

Abbotstown, FAI headquarters saw Giovanni giving the thumbs up to a community partnership between the FAI/Fingal County Council and Swords Pavilions. This grassroots initiative has been a fantastic success to date with 3 afterschool coaching programmes set up in Balbriggan, 4 more planned for Swords and a unique “Road to Poland” 4v4 Tournament play competition. Fire in House Down Near Balbriggan Harbour

A fire broke out yesterday in the house down beside Balbriggan Harbour. No one was in the house (which is used as a store) when the fire broke out. Members of the Fire Brigade where on hand to quickly extinguish the fire and an investigation is underway to determine the cause. (more…)
