Official Opening of the New Skerries Fire Station

The official opening of the new state of the art Skerries Fire Station took place on Thursday 13th June 2013. The Chief Fire Officer and Assistant Chief from Dublin Fire Brigade along with District Officers and Station Officers from across Fingal were in attendance. Balbriggan Summerfest Kids Fun Run

The Balbriggan Summerfest kids fun run in conjunction with Balbriggan Athletics club took place on Friday 31st May. With well in excess of 130 children taking part they took to the track with great determination and speed heading from the bandstand over towards Quay street car park where the celebrations and opening ceremony was taking place. The Chantries Residents Clean Up Day

Resident in The Chantries came out in force for their clean up day on Saturday 8th June 2013. Organised by the Chantries Residents Association residents worked to remove weeds, moss and overgrown shrubbery in the estate. As this is the estates 3rd clean up the area is starting to look pretty good. There was very positive feedback from residents who had a very productive day (more…)


Annual Dog Walk for Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind

The Annual 3km Dog Walk in aid of Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind took place in the beautiful grounds of Ardgillan Castle on Sunday 9th June 2013. The sun was splitting the trees and made for a fantastic walk. The Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind receive over 85% of their income through voluntary donations and fundraising through a network of volunteers across the country and this event. (more…)


Balbriggan-born Kevin Curran launches debut novel!

Kevin Curran from Balbriggan has just written his debut novel Beatsploitation. The book sheds light on the reality of race politics in Ireland. It looks at the story of Bola Adeniran and his family who were originally from Nigeria had been in Ireland and living in Balbriggan for six years. Regarded as ‘a star student’, Bola was due to sit his Leaving Cert just before his family were refused asylum. His father was immediately deported while the rest of the family went on the run. Flowers Return to Balbriggan Main Street…
