On Friday night, Balbriggan ICA hosted a party to celebrate their 70th Anniversary.  Frances Nixon President, Balbriggan ICA was delighted to welcome over 80 members and friends, with groups from Lusk, Garrristown, Portmarnock and Kilnamanagh guilds in attendance. The theme of the party was St Molaga the Beekeeper.   Bunting  and Honey pots adorned with Bees showcased the craft side of the ICA. Guild member Dervila Clarke Keogh gave an interesting talk on St Molaga suitably adorned in her Beehive Hat.

Mary Melia President Dublin Federation congratulated the Guild and endorsed the importance of Bees to the environment. The after dinner speaker May McKeon spoke about the important contribution the ICA made as a social outlet and support system for the women of Balbriggan in those early days. Their willingness to teach crafts to new members and share information, continues to the present day. Her insight into life in Balbriggan in the 40’s and 50’s and her own life experiences was informative and entertaining.

Excellent food  and music by Tulips lead to a most enjoyable celebration.
