Balbriggan RFC Ladies Play Their First Match Of The League

October 6, 2014 0

The Balbriggan ladies played their first league match in front of a good crowd in Balrothery.  It was a very enjoyable game and the home team were a little unlucky not to shade it.   Balbriggan Veteran, Sanda McAleer led from the front playing at No 6.  It was Greystones who scored first when their winger out paced the opposition to run half the pitch to score in the corner. The Balbriggan side buckled down to their task and between scrum half Aoife Casey, sister of first team coach Conor, and McAleer they kept the rucks moving forward.  Balbriggan got a penalty five metres out and from that there was only one place McAleer was going to go. Derbhla Sheridan was just short with the conversion kick.  Five all at half time.

Both sides had opportunities in the second half. The Sheridan sister were running strongly in the backs and out half O’Connor carried well. In the pack Lisa Kelly and Tracey McFadden carried well. Overall an excellent start.

The Balbriggan ladies train twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm at the Club grounds in Balrothery.  If you are interested in participating please come along. All welcome and no experience necessary.
