Balbriggan RFC turn the sod for their new clubhouseMay 17, 2019 ADMIN 0
It was an historic evening at Balbriggan RFC as the sod was turned for the Club’s long awaited clubhouse. The builders will move in on-site on Monday. The build is estimated to take six months so hopefully the new clubhouse will be ready this side of Christmas. We will keep everyone updated with developments.
Two children from the club, Daniel Cumisky and Tara Hickey had the honour of turning the sod this evening. Daniel is the 4th generation of Cumisky to have played with Balbriggan RFC. Daniel’s great-grandfather was one of the founding members of the club in 1925.
Tara, is a team-mate of Daniel. The land where our club is located, was in her family for many generations. The two players therefore represent our long history and our deep roots in the community whilst also representing our future as a club for everyone.
There was a great crowd in attendance at the ceremony tonight including many dignitaries. We are grateful to Lorcan Balfe, President of Leinster Rugby for taking time out from his very busy schedule to attend tonight. Thanks also to Senator James Reilly, and Councillors Tony Murphy and Tom O’Leary for their great support.
