The 34th/161st Balbriggan Scout Group celebrated 85th years of Scouting in Balbriggan. Group Leader Eddie Darcy welcomed many Scouter friends & guests who attended the Mass in Balbriggan Clubs Community Centre Dublin Street, Balbriggan.
Scouts Beavers Cubs Ventures rovers, also scouts from Walkintown, Wellington.Swords, Skerries & Balbriggan Girl Guides were in attendance. to remember Founder members & present members. The Celebrant was Rev Fr Eugene Taaffe assisted by Rev Fr Gerry Byrne a former Scout in Balbriggan. Also in attendance was Chief Scout Mr Michael.J. Shinnick, & The National Secretary, Mr Sean Farrell. The Chief Scout, made the presentations, to two Life Long Members, Angela Morgan and Charlie Curtis. Service Awards for 15 years for David Smith, 25 years for John Parson, 10 yearsfor Mary Harford, 5 years for Jonathon Smith, Linda Kilmurry and Karen Clare. They also Hononered Mr Billy Hamilton who was a scout in the Unit in the 1930s now in his 93rd year.
