Balbriggan & Skerries Skateparks Official Opening

October 4, 2019 0

Today saw the official opening of the Balbriggan and Skerries Skateparks by Mayor of Fingal Cllr Eoghan O’Brien and Fingal Chief Executive AnnMarie Farrelly. Well done to the local Skatepark Committees who worked with Fingal County Council to deliver the projects. Community engagement was an objective of this project so both skateparks designed for users and spectators cater for a wide age-range and level of experience.

Before tendering for the project, the council undertook a series of design workshops with stakeholders to determine their requirements. A key element of the project brief was that the design of each Skatepark reflects and complements the character of each site and was informed by stakeholder feedback. The Balbriggan Skatepark is a plaza style park and the Skerries Skatepark  is a bowls and snake runs design.

The Balbriggan Skatepark is located at Mill pond at the back of the church car park and the Skerries Skatepark is located at Skerries Town park.
