Balbriggan Street Olympics Official Launch

The Launch of the Balbriggan Street Olympics took place in the Bracken Boxing Club this evening. The event which takes place on Monday 6th August is being run by Garda Kate and Gardai Dave along with support from Balbriggan Town Council and Fingal County Council.

Garda Kate and Gardai Dave have been instrumental in working with the youth in Balbriggan in their late night soccer league which they run in conjunction with the FAI. Inspector Houlihan who affords Garda Kate and Garda Dave the time for their community activities was also on hand

Michael Carruth Olympic Gold medalist from the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona officially launched the event and brought along his gold medal and Olympic torch which he carried between Newry and Dundalk in early June of this year.

Cathaoirleach of Balbriggan Larry Dunne and members of the Balbriggan Town Council, Cllr Ciaran Byrne from Fingal County Council were present along with Kieran O’Neill, Greg Kenny and members of the Bracken Boxing Club. There was also a contingent from the 34th/161st Balbriggan Scout Group, Balbriggan Athletics Club, Balbriggan.
