Balbriggan Swimmers unite in support of a swim platform

March 20, 2021 0

Today swimmers in Balbriggan took to the sea to show support for the building of a swim platform.  Since the Covid-19 pandemic started the number of swimmers swimming along the Irish coast has rocketed and on any given day Balbriggan beach is home to swimmers in their droves.

Beginning in 2019, the Council undertook extensive consultation with the local community with the goal of developing an ambitious shared vision for the future of Bremore Park.  The development of Bremore Regional Park is one of the key objectives of the ‘Our Balbriggan’ strategy

Over the years substantial representations have been made to Fingal County Council to construct a swim platform and it was also requested as part of the Our Balbriggan project for a swim platform to be constructed to the northern side of the beach.   This was also promised to the Balbriggan Community Council however, this has not been included in the Bremore Regional Park Development Project.  Sean Keenan and David Flynn organised today’s swim to drum up support and show the numbers behind this proposed project and today’s turnout shows great local support and interest.
