Balbriggan teen Sara Burke (13) will represent Team Ireland at the WAKO European Kickboxing Championships in Budva, Montenegro later this year. Sara has been training in Karate and Kickboxing since the age of 6 starting off in Fleming Community Centre and is now currently training with Tallaght Martial Arts 4 times a week in their clubs in Ratoath and Tallaght.

Balbriggan teen Sara Burke KickboxingSara has been competing in Kickboxing tournaments across Ireland since the age of 8 including the Irish Open, Tallaght Open and White Tiger Challenge in Mayo and started to compete in competitions outside of Ireland from 10 years old.

Sara also represented Ireland in World Karate and Kickboxing Commission World Championships (WKKC’s) November 2018 in Citywest winning Gold in Points Fighting & Silver in Light Contact.

Even with Sara’s extremely busy Kickboxing training schedule, she still manages to represent Balbriggan by playing GAA for O ’Dwyer’s U14 Girls.

Sara also had the privilege of being awarded Junior Sports Person of the Year 2019 in the Balbriggan Town Awards.

Even though World Association of Kickboxing Organisations (WAKO) is fully recognised by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) there is no funding for clubs or athletes like Sara to travel and compete in any competitions domestic or international, representing club or country is all self-funded.

If any local business wishes to help Sara, through sponsorship, to make the trip to Montenegro to represent Team Ireland, contact info@Balbriggan.info and we will forward details on to Sara’s parents.
