Balbriggan Tidy Towns Hard at Work

November 7, 2015 0

We spotted Balbriggan Tidy Towns hard at work around the town today removing sellotape from lampposts and windows.  This tape can be difficult to remove and is unsightly. The law forbids the putting up of posters/signs on poles or on other structures in public places unless you have the written permission of the owner of the pole or other structure in advance of putting up the posters/signs. Any article or advertisement must carry the name and address of the person and an illegal posting carries an  on-the-spot fine of €150 in respect of each offence. If a person  has been issued with a fine and refuses to pay, they can be prosecuted. The maximum penalty on summary conviction for non-payment of the fine is €3,000.  So please think before you stick up a poster as it may lead to heavy fines and/or a conviction…
