Book of Condolence opened for victims of Barcelona attack as Council expresses condolences

The Mayor of Fingal and Fingal County Council have expressed their condolences to those killed and injured in the Barcelona attack yesterday and a Book of Condolence has been opened.  Fingal is twinned with El Prat de Llobregat, a municipality which forms part of the metropolitan area of Barcelona and where Barcelona-El Prat Airport is located.

Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Mary McCamley signs the Book of Condolence at the Civic Offices in Blanchardstown.

The Book of Condolence is available for signing by members of the public during office hours at County Hall, Swords, and Civic Offices, Blanchardstown.

The Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Mary McCamley, said: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims of this appalling incident, their families and friends and the emergency services who are dealing with the aftermath. We condemn this dreadful attack on innocent people.”

The Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, Paul Reid, said: “We want to express our solidarity with the people of Barcelona and, in particular, those in El Prat de Llobregat with whom we are twinned. This is a terrible time for them as they come to terms with this dreadful incident and we extend our deepest condolences to the victims and their families.”
