Camino Walk in aid of Remember Us Special Needs GroupSeptember 24, 2015 ADMIN 0
On Saturday 19th September 2015, 10 amazing people flew to Bilbao in Northern Spain to walk 140K along the beautiful but physically demanding Camino De Santiago to raise funds for Remember Us Special Needs Group. This walk is part of an ongoing fundraising campaign to help Remember Us purchase and fit out a new home for the “Club”.
The group which is being lead by Cllr Tony Murphy also includes Sean Corrigan, Catherine Lawlor, Susan Hanna, Paula McGrath, Neil Anderson, James Cassin, Mary Simons, Jean Wray and Eugene Murphy. They arrived safely on Saturday evening and started walking on Sunday morning doing between 20K and 30K each day along rough terrain and in very warm weather.
This is a walk that requires stamina, resilience, energy and staying power and these brave people have it in abundance. They have kept going through sore and blistered feet, exhaustion and heat of up to 28 degrees. Nora Roban from Remember Us said “Their efforts along with the €10,000 they raised through sponsorship has been invaluable and Remember us Special Needs Group cannot begin to express their gratitude to each and every one of these walkers who have given so much to our “Club”. Thank you from everyone at Remember Us Special Needs Group.”
