Last night the Castleland Court,Residents Association committee from Balbriggan were invited to the Fingal CoCo Cleaner Communities annual awards in Blanchardstown. At the ceremony they were absolutely thrilled to be presented with the 2014 award for the Best Small Non-Managed Housing Estate for the Balbriggan/Swords area. The area covers all of Swords, Rush, Lusk, Skerries, Balbriggan, Naul and Garristown so it was an outstanding achievement for this dedicated group of Balbriggan residents.
There were 43 awards presented at the ceremony in categories including Best Community Project, Best Presented Business and Best Environmental project. Two members of the residents Association,Teresa Fitzpatrick and Zoe Nelson were joined at the awards event by local Councilor Grainne Maguire who commented “she was so proud to see a Balbriggan housing estate being recognised in such a tough competition as the standard of entries was extremely high across the county”.
The Residents Association members were praised by the judges for the litter free environment and extensive planting of colorful flower containers as well as the community spring clean event which they had undertaken in April of this year. The award was presented by Fingal County Council CEO Paul Reid and Mayor of Fingal Mags Murray.
The Residents Association would like to express their thanks to Fingal County Council for organising such an Competition as it really encourages residents all over the county to continue their volunteerism and helps to maintain a beautiful Fingal! But most of all the Committee would like to thank all the various residents who pick up litter, cut grass, maintain the verges & plant flowers throughout the year.
Well done to all the residents of Castleland Court, Balbriggan.
