Castlelands Masterplan will support 800 units

August 21, 2018 0

Fingal County Council have started the process of delivering the Masterplan for lands at Castlelands Balbriggan. The Masterplan facilitates public engagement and offers the opportunity to make submissions to contribute to the future shaping of this area.  It’s important to note however that these lands with the current zoning have the capacity to have 800 houses built. Social, Affordable, Private, Apartments, you decide?

It’s vital that the people of Balbriggan air their views on the future of the Castlelands area. All submissions have to be taken into consideration.

There are many reasons why any large scale building project may be seen to be premature. In light of the ongoing housing crisis which is driving pressure for housing demand, Balbriggan cannot be seen to be the area to support this housing deficit at present.

Approved housing bodies have the funding to purchase large numbers of newly built housing in any location. The current price points of houses in Balbriggan make it an attractive proposition.

With the existing social housing, private landlord ownership, approved housing bodies stock of houses, Balbriggan has well exceeded the national average for social housing stock in the country. Services are now severely stressed to the max or non-existent.

The future development of Castlelands should be considered only in the context of where Balbriggan is today.
If you are interested in how the Castlelands masterplan will develop and wish to contribute to the shaping of its future please make a submission to the planning authority Fingal County Council before close of business on Tuesday 28th of August.
