Protest Against Balbriggan Library Cuts

Over 100 people turned up to St. Georges Square in Balbriggan today to protest against the planned cuts to the Balbriggan library hours. We are asking the county manager in Fingal County Council to exhaust EVERY possibility imaginable to ensure that our library hours are not cut due to it’s importance to the local community. (more…)


Air & Sea Rescue at Balbriggan

The Irish Coast Guard Helicopter and RNLI lifeboat came to the rescue of a powerboat on Balbriggan’s coast this evening. The boat which launched at neighbouring Skerries earlier in the evening got into trouble 3 miles out when it’s gearbox failed resulting in the boat becoming adrift. (more…)

Skerries Coast Guard Responds when Vehicle Skids off Cliff

The Skerries Coast Guard were called to assist in an accident on the Skerries road this morning. A vehicle which appeared to have skidded on ice at a bend north of Skerries and left the road, descending a cliff towards the beach below. The Coast Guard helicopter was also tasked to the scene. 2012 started off on the right note with the sun shining in Balbriggan, the Sam Maguire Cup Returned to Balbriggan, milestone birthdays were celebrated – 21st, 40th, and even a 100th Birthday!! the Balbriggan ‘Pop-Up’ Maritime Museum opened it’s doors, Sharon Gaynor made it through to the live finals in the Voice of Ireland, O’Dwyers GAA hosted the Dublin vs Louth Ladies Leinster Minor Championship, (more…)

As well as providing an invaluable opportunity for these budding authors to have their work published, all profits from “A stocking Full of Stories” will provide much needed funds for Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital in Crumlin.
