July 26, 2013 0

A friendly match took place between League of Ireland Legends and North County FC in aid of Balbriggan Cancer Support Group on Sunday 21st July 2013. The game was played at Hyde park in great spirIts. With the legends taking the lead on 20 minutes through Vinny Arkins (former Shamrock Rovers center forward) 5 min later County responded when Stephan Healy scored for North County.

It stayed 1 a piece until 1 minute into the second half when the Legends took the lead through that man again Arkins. North County pushed for the equaliser but got caught on the break and were punished with a great move finished in the net given the Legends a 3-1 advantage.

County kept pressing and got back in it with a goal again from Healy but it was to little to late the game finishing in a 3 -2 win for the Legends. It was a superb match watched by a big crowd and all for a great cause.

We at the Hamlet Bar would like to thank Pierce Walsh for getting the former League of Ireland players to compete on the day and also to North County FC over 35s for there participation. We would also like to thank Hyde Park FC for the use of there facility’s and to everyone that made the day possible. money made on the day was €610.00 and it will help us in reaching our goal of €2500.00 in July.
