Council welcomes MSD job announcement for Swords

Fingal County Council has welcomed the announcement by pharmaceutical company MSD that it is to create 350 jobs at a new manufacturing facility in Swords. The MSD Biotech Dublin plant will produce biologics-based medicines for the global market on the grounds of the company’s previous site in the county capital.

msdWelcoming the news, the Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, Paul Reid, said that it was another major boost for the county, and in particular Swords.

“This is another endorsement of Fingal as a place to do business in and it is encouraging to see the company highlight the talent pool available as one of the main reasons for their decision as well as the strong relationships they have with the various agencies including the Council,” said Mr Reid.

Ed Hearne, Director of Economic, Enterprise and Tourism at Fingal County Council said: “MSD are just one of many global leaders who have based their Irish operations in Fingal and, as a Council, we continue to work closely with them all so they can expand and create more jobs in the county.

The Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Mary McCamley, said: “This is more great news for Swords and Fingal. The creation of these 350 jobs will be a major boost to the local economy.”
