Disappointing news for two local communities Balbriggan and Skerries

May 12, 2016 0

Independent Fingal County Councillor Tony Murphy today received the unfortunate news that the long awaited Festival Ravelóid in Ardgillan has been postponed. The festival was originally planned for 10th – 11th of June 2016.It has not yet been made clear as to the reason for postponing as every effort had been made by Fingal County Council to support and facilitate this event says Councillor Murphy. Ravelóid fully apologies for any disappointment caused and will ensure that everyone who purchased tickets will receive refunds in the coming weeks.

Cllr Tony Murphy

I had been advocating for a Concert to be held in Ardgillan demesne since my election to Fingal County Council in 2014. I’m totally disappointed to hear this news so close to the concert date says Councillor Murphy.

It was way back in June 2005 when Meat Loaf and R.E.M. played in Ardgillan eleven years ago. The anticipation of another concert since then, had created great excitement locally not to mention the expected economic spin off for local business in Balbriggan and Skerries. There will have to be some questions asked as to why this has happened considering this event has been in the pipeline for nearly 12 months.

I will however work hard to remedy the situation and instigate talks immediately to find a replacement for the Ravelóid Festival later in the year. With the expectation of what may have been a fantastic weekend now removed from Fingal’s events calendar, the local community deserve a commitment to deliver an alternative concert.
