The Dublin Meath Farmers Hunt took place on Saturday 24th September starting at the Man O’War Pub. Thirty five horses and riders took part in the drag hunt which was the first day out of the season.
In Drag Lines Hunting, the pack of hounds follows a line of artificial scent which is laid out in sections across the countryside by a person known as the Dragsman. Mounted on horseback he lays out the draglines over the selected area to be hunted.
The group headed out 15 minutes after the dragsman through the fields and the hounds kept well on scent. It was the first time we had attended a hunt and we found it very enjoyable watching the hounds and horses jumping the ditches and following the scent through the fields…
