€116,250 allocated for works on Balbriggan & Rush Harbours – FarrellApril 1, 2019 ADMIN 0
Fine Gael TD for Dublin Fingal, Alan Farrell has welcomed the allocation of €116,250 in funding to Balbriggan and Rush Harbours. “I am delighted with confirmation from my Fine Gael colleague, the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Michael Creed TD that funding of €60,000 has been allocated to Rush Harbour and €56,250 has been granted to Balbriggan Harbour.
“Rush Harbour is receiving this €60,000 in funding to allow for the lift and relay of a section of the original stones on the pier surface. This is vital work for the upkeep of this protected structure and will include the importing of additional stone where necessary.
“Balbriggan Harbour is being granted €56,250 in funding for the provision of services supply points, specifically for water and electricity, on the southern side of the harbour. This is to improve the facilities in place for fishermen operating from that part of the internal harbour.
“Ensuring our harbours are maintained to the highest possible standard and receive investment for the improvements they require is of the utmost importance in terms of supporting the local community, and indeed making our coastal communities more attractive to visitors.
“Those working in and around our harbours must be provided with the facilities they require to support them in their daily work.
“I am pleased with this announcement of €116,250 in funding for Balbriggan and Rush Harbours. As the local Fine Gael TD in Dublin Fingal, I will actively engage with Minister Creed and his Department to ensure the needs of our coastal communities are heard, understood and acted upon by Government.”
