€4,600 raised at at Balbriggan Golf Club Pink Day for Breast Cancer Research IrelandMay 30, 2019 ADMIN 0
Balbriggan Golf Club Ladies & Men’s members really went the extra mile this year for our Charity Event in aid of BCRI. Over last weekend the Pink Committee of Patricia Rooney, Barbara Kenny, Collette Guildea & Frances Whelan were ensconced in the Pro Shop from early morning selling tickets. The generosity of our Members is incredible & lots of tickets were purchased & donations given for the Charity.
The Golf Format was a 3 Lady Or 3 Men Team Scramble. “Mulligans” were purchased in abundance to help with The scoring !!! The dress code PINK. How many shades of Pink are there ??? . Soft Pink, Fuchsia Pink, Deep Pink & that was just the Hair !!! The members went to great lengths to design a creation to catch the eye & definitely raised an eyebrow or too!!
Pink was everywhere throughout the Clubhouse as well with banners, posters, balloons & beautiful flowers with every effort being made to remind us how important it is to simply wear Pink to raise funds for Research. This year the Committee thought up a few more ideas to raise even more money – a Handbag Sale. As we all know a Lady can never have enough Handbags & the array of Styles & Colours, well let’s just say there was definitely something for everyone at very keen prices. The bags were draped along the window cills for the Ladies to pick & purchase their favorite. Also new was ” guess the Number of golf balls in the BOX & will the lot !!! The numbers varied greatly however, the total was 361.
Miriam Hand from BCRI was truly amazed at the effort made by everyone & thought the Handbag Sale was a genius idea & one she will be taking back go her Board Members to promote the idea to other Clubs. Miriam spoke of the importance of Research, the need for fund raising & thanked everyone at BGC for their kindness & support. Lady Captain Marie also thanked the Pink Day Committee & our amazing members. LC Marie also thank Joe & Kim from Balbriggan.info for covering all events throughout the year.
