European Federation of Baton Twirling European Twirling Championship

July 8, 2015 0

The European Federation of Baton Twirling European Twirling Championship finals took place in Gormanston at the weekend, and wow, what talent was on show. Ireland came in 2nd place behind Catalonia which is a fantastic achievement for our country. Baton Twirling is a sport that combines a choreographed routine of gymnastics and dance, while twirling the baton to a piece of well chosen music. Events are in the shape of solo, pair and team and group events. This competition was organised by the dedicated Association of Baton Twirling in Ireland. It took months of planning and organising, but it is clear that this association can put on an event with a super atmosphere where each person felt proud to be a part of.

The ABTI would like to thank all athletes, coaches, club directors, judges, parents, supporters for their hard work over the weekend. A special mention too to the ABTI clubs who took part in this championships, local club St Mary’s Baton Twirlers, Clareville Baton Twirlers, Kilnamanagh Baton Twirlers, St Anne’s Baton Twirlers and Wolfe Tone Baton Twirlers. Well done to all of you on your excellent performances. You did yourselves and your country proud.
