Fantastic Leinster Kettle Cup Tournament at Balbriggan RFC

March 13, 2016 0

The Leinster Kettle Cup tournament was run by the Leinster Branch today in Balbriggan. The Under-10 Kettle Cup began in 1985 and Balbriggan RFC  have been honoured with hosting this event to help celebrate the 90th anniversary, Tom Kettle, a founder of youths rugby in Leinster was a Balbriggan man who helped re-form the club in the late 60’s.

The Tournament has no winners as they are Under-10 and 22 Leinster clubs are invited to play in groups of four and all players receive a medal for their effort.   The teams that took part on Saturday displayed  some excellent rucks, mauls which eventually lead to the try’s. Teams were very tactical trying to suck in the opponents and then create the space for a good run.

The event was very well run with  all teams giving it their best, the quality of the rugby was outstanding.
