Fingal County Councillors Vote on First Round of Modular Homes

April 11, 2016 0

As we wait for decisions on the proposed 40 modular homes in Pinewood Balbriggan it is interesting to note how Councillors voted on a proposal for 20 modular homes in Mulhuddart.  Based on online observations the  Mulhuddart homes have only had 3 online submissions however, more may have been submitted by post.  The Mulhuddart plans were open to submissions until on Wednesday 2nd March, 2016.

The proposed development of 40 modular homes in Pinewood, Balbriggan has 65 submissions and it has been reported that in excess of 500 letters & a petition of 400 signatures were  delivered to the Fingal County Council offices.

In the news this week  Fingal County Councillor Cian O’Callaghan stated that modular homes are exceptionally poor value for money in the long term. The cost of each three-bedroom unit at Poppintree in Ballmun is estimated to be €191,000. This is more than double the €80,000 estimated cost per unit initially announced by Kelly last October. The price tag is all the higher when considering that there was no land acquisition costs, no development levies, no part V contribution and no marketing and sales costs.  Read the full article here
