Noel will continue to play an important part in the affairs of the Society as he was unanimously elected as President in succession to Lougshinny resident Richard Hurley who was appointed Hon. Life President recognizing the enormous contribution made by him over his long service.
Former Fingal Mayor Cathal Boland was elected to the Chair for the coming year. Cathal set out an ambitious program of action and events. He said “To survive the Society needs to connect with young people communicating with them through the mediums they use. The Society needs to look at itself and its relevance in the context of modern Ireland”
The Convention was preceded by Pat Nugent’s excellent photographic exhibition which was on display to the public throughout the morning.
The Society will hold a special commemoration on Sunday the 3rd December at the grave of Volunteer Joseph Norton after 11.00am mass.
