Frank Carson is Laid to Rest

March 3, 2012 0

Stars of stage, screen and sport joined Carson’s close family and friends for the funeral mass at St Patrick’s Church in Belfast City Centre today. Around a thousand mourners lined the streets to pay their final respects outside the Catholic church where Carson had sung as a choirboy and where he married his childhood sweetheart, Ruth, 62 years ago.

As his coffin was carried from the church to the tune of his song The Cracker, the assembled crowds gave Carson one final round of applause.

Edward night who worked for Frank for 3 years in his pub Ennis’s on Drogheda Street (now de Bruns) told us how Frank brought many celebrities to Balbriggan including the late George Best. Frank was a great supporter of charities and did so much for the people of Balbriggan and he will be sadly missed by all those whose hearts he touched.

Our deepest condolences to the Carson Family from his friends Balbriggan
