Glebe North FC 70th Anniversary Celebrations

Glebe North marked the start of their 70th celebrations  in the Bracken Court Hotel on Friday night. They were joined by special guest speaker, Liverpool legend Ronnie Whelan. Ronnie had them all in stitches with his brilliant delivery of tales from his glory days with Liverpool and Ireland. Over 100 guests joined them for dinner and drinks including local TD Brendan Ryan and local Councillor Tony Murphy.

glebe_north_fcPlayer of the year awards were handed out to 1st team Captain Noel Barrett and 2nd team player Barry Duff. The club also had their Metropolitan Cup and Major 1 Sat league Title on display.

Members of recently deceased founder member Jack Reid were there too and presented a fabulous trophy to the club. The trophy was awarded to Clubman Of the Year Joe Smtyh.  Joe has over 30 years service as Treasurer of the club and his dedication is second to none. Joe said he was humbled by the award.

A fantastic evening was finished off with a rendition of You’ll Never Walk Alone and everyone joined in on the dance floor,  even all the Man Utd fans in attendance!
