Grants available to enhance or create public spaces in Balbriggan

Grants of between €2,000 and €6,000 are now available to any person or organisation in Balbriggan with a project that will create or enhance a public space in the town’s centre.  The Placemaking Fund has been established by the Our Balbriggan Rejuvenation Office of Fingal County Council to support initiatives which make the town an even better place to live, work in and visit.

our_balbriggan_take_the_surveyInitiatives should improve the physical environment of the local area – they might enhance the town centre through arts and culture and help create a sense of place and identity within the town.

Suitable projects may include initiatives which would increase the footfall and liveliness of the streets, environmental and green projects, lighting, public art, and contribute to a safer, cleaner, greener Balbriggan.

The grants are available to community groups, businesses, clubs, artists and individuals who have ideas or plans for projects that will enhance resident and visitor experience of the town.

How will it work?

  • Fingal County Council will fund good ideas from a minimum of €2,000 up to a maximum of €6,000

Who can apply?

  • Community Groups, Business’s/ Business Groups, Clubs, Artists and Individuals who operate within Balbriggan.

What type of Projects would be suitable?

  • Unique events which would increase the footfall/ liveliness of the streets.
  • Environmental Projects/Greening Projects/Urban Planting
  • Atmospheric Lighting
  • Public Art/Murals/Street Art
  • Creative Seating/Places to Meet/Spaces to Relax
  • Creation of Unique Events & Play Spaces
  • Other projects which will enhance residents/visitors experience in Balbriggan
  • Cleaner/ Greener / Safer
