Green representatives welcome hard found extension in St Teresa’s National School Balbriggan
September 2, 2020 ADMIN 0Fingal Green Party T.D, Minister Joe O’Brien has welcomed confirmation from the Department of Education that funding has been approved for the construction of four permanent mainstream classrooms have been approved for St Teresa’s Primary School in Balbriggan to replace existing prefabs.
An additional permanent mainstream classroom has been approved along with two special educational needs classrooms and a special education teachers’ room and ancillary space.
Minister O’Brien said:
I am very glad of today’s announcement by the Department of Education, the school, the board of management and the parents, have fought long and hard for this and have had to endure teaching conditions in unsuitable prefabs for years.”
I am hopeful that construction will start as soon as possible and the extension completed without any undue delay.
Welcoming the news, Balbriggan Councillor, Karen Power, said:
I am delighted that approval has been given for the additional classrooms and in particular I am pleased to see the inclusion of two new special educational needs classrooms and the special education teacher’s room.
St Teresa’s currently has a special class for children in the Mild General Learning Difficulty range. The additional facilities for special needs education will help to ensure the provision of additional teaching supports required to meet the educational needs of all pupils.
