REMINDER: Invitation to Balbriggan Tidy Towns Association Art Exhibition

April 1, 2016 0

Balbriggan Tidy Towns Association invite you to an art exhibition with a difference.  The exhibition, “Waste Not, Want Not”, is an exhibition of art made from waste materials and will be officially launched by environmentalist and TV presenter Duncan Stewart, on Saturday 2nd April at 3pm in Millfield Shopping Centre.

Eight artists, plus Balbriggan’s Men’s shed and students from Loreto College, Balbriggan and Ardgillan Community Colleges will display a variety of creations, including dresses made for the national Junk Kouture competition.

The exhibition will be open on Saturday, Sunday and Monday during the Centre’s opening hours. With this exhibition Balbriggan Tidy Towns and the artists intend to create a talking point about waste, pollution and the environment, through the medium of visual art. It is hoped that awareness can be raised about what we can do to reduce the growing volumes of waste we produce and how art can utilise waste by using it as a creative material.

Contributors include: Thomas Brezing, Martin Hughes, Áine Ivers, Julita Jaroszuk, Cris Newmann David Newton, Joseph V. Voda, Dave West, Balbriggan Men’s Shed, Loreto College, Balbriggan and Ardgillan Community College students.
