Launch of the Blue Bike Initiative at Balbriggan Train Station

There was a great turnout this afternoon for the launch of the Blue Bike (Anti Bike theft crime prevention) which was held at Balbriggan Train Station by the Community Policing Team Balbriggan Garda Station. The initiative was in conjunction with An Garda Siochana and Balbriggan Chamber of Commerce.

Blue bike initiative launch in Balbriggan 15-apr-21_2An Garda Siochana; Superintendent Paul Franey, Inspector Brendan Keane, Sergeant Fiona Savidge and Garda Mark McKenna, Balbriggan Chamber of Commerce; Maurice O’Halloran , Iranrod Eireann ; Aidan Reid and Mark Jolley attended the launch. Hugh from the Cycling and Angling Store Balbriggan also supported Gardai with this initiative.

Crime prevention advice regarding bike theft and tips to secure bikes was given on the day. A bike marking service was provided by Gardai who used the property marking machine Telesis in which a person’s eircode is marked on their bike. Many locals turned up to have their bikes marked. Everything was done outdoors as the sun was shining.

Attendees also had the chance to check out Java the Hut’s  new container coffee shop in Balbriggan Train Station which is open daily from 6:00am – 4.30pm
