Balbriggan and District Athletic Club’s membership has grown over the last years, at both Juvenile and Senior level to almost 250 members. A healthy competitive spirit exists within the club and there is an appetite to progress and expand in the future.
General training is Monday, the younger ones train from 6:00 to 6:45pm, and older from 7:00 to 8:00pm
Activities include shot putt, long jump and more…
The juvenile coach team has also expanded to 27 coaches with most already having Athletics Ireland coaching certificates and further training planned.
In competition, Balbriggan and District AC has once again proved to be a growing, competing Athletic Club. There was increased participation at Juvenile level and good placings achieved for both Junior & Senior levels at Dublin, Leinster and National level.
In 2020 we want to improve participation in events for both junior and seniors.
The aims and objectives of the club continue to be: promotion of, participation and competition in, the sport of Athletics (track and field, cross country and road running) in a fair, safe, equal and ethical manner.
The club’s finances are in a healthy state, and among our future medium and long term goals we will be upgrading training equipment, improving training opportunities, increasing competition/event participation with more coached activities for seniors. We are also promoting a permanent running and training facility that could be part of Our Balbriggan.
Our juvenile training for those racing will be twice a week over 32 weeks (as per school terms). There are some further ideas for senior training along with the current scheduled speed and Strength/conditioning sessions.
Membership is open. Fees are €40 for the calendar year. At several juvenile ages, a waiting list is in operation due to demand and capacity. Contact email@example.com or 089 2444924
