Local lady Jackie Roy was invited to paint a mural on the garden container in St. Teresa’s primary school, Balbriggan. Jackie is a mother and grandmother living here in Balbriggan and is a really talented local artist. She welcomed this opportunity as she worked in the school many years ago as a classroom assistant doing art and craft with the children.

Jackie loves doing murals and has always had a passion for art since she was a child. St. Teresa’s N.S. is grateful to Jackie and to Erin Kelly (SNA) who volunteered over the Easter to create this magnificent spectacle. The mural will bring a ray of sunshine to the children of St. Teresa’s for many generations to come.

The parents of St. Teresa’s have worked with the teachers and children to create the school garden, with a special thank you to parents Fiona Ruhan, Lisa Conmy, and Rosie Carroll. Brendan Grant, the school caretaker laid the garden out while Nigel Ross from Fingal Adult Education advised the parents on planting. Máire McDonald, the home-school-community teacher, co-ordinated all of their efforts.

The children were very excited bringing home plants to mind over the Easter so that they would be ready to plant out now. It is great for children to learn how to grow their own food. Hopefully they will enjoy the fruits of their work when the vegetables and fruit ripen. It has been a true community effort!
