Ardgillan Castle and Demesne will play host to a major tourism occasion on Saturday (August 11) following the announcement by destination management company Odyssey International that they will hold one of their major international events in the Demesne. The Ardgillan event will attract over 2,500 visitors from all over the United States and they will enjoy Irish culture of the highest standard in a special and authentic venue. Their visit to Fingal will come at the end of a week-long trip to Ireland.

In order to facilitate the smooth running of this important tourism event there will be no public access to Ardgillan Demesne on Saturday, August 11, and normal access will resume on Sunday, August 12.

To minimise traffic issues, those attending the event will be bussed in to Ardgillan from their hotels across Dublin.

Colín O’Reilly from Fingal County Council’s Economic Enterprise and Tourism Development Department said incentive tourism events such as this have huge benefits to Fingal.

He said: “There will be direct income to Fingal County Council to improve the level of service to citizens. In this instance the income from the event is being used to provide improvements to the Demesne including toilets and a heritage trail among other things. There is also indirect income to the County through the engagement of local contractors to provide food, entertainment and infrastructure and it is also an excellent opportunity to promote the County economically on a worldwide scale from both a tourism and an investment location perspective.”
