Murphy urges eligible parents to apply for Back to School allowance

Cllr Tony Murphy is reminding families that the Back to School Clothing and Footwear Allowance will be made available again this year, and urged families who are not automatically entitled to make an application before the September deadline.   The closing date for applications is 30 September 2018.

You may qualify for back to school clothing and footwear allowance if you are;

  • Getting a social welfare payment
  • Taking part in an approved employment scheme
  • Taking part in recognised education or training
  • Involved in Area Partnership Scheme, Attending a FET (Fás) Fáilte Ireland or LES training scheme

Rates:

  • Child aged 4-11 on or before 30 September  allowance €125
  • Child aged 12-22 on or before 30 September  allowance €250
  • Children between age 18 and 22 years must be returning to full-time second-level education in a recognised school or college in autumn of 2018
