O’Dwyers GAA members vote to sell grounds to Fingal County CouncilJanuary 12, 2018 ADMIN 0
At a Special General Meeting held in their clubhouse on Thursday 11th January, O’Dwyers GAA Club Balbriggan members unanimously voted in favour of a proposed deal for a multi million euro new development which will include new pitches and a new clubhouse.
This deal will see O’Dwyers sell their lands on Hamlet Lane to Fingal County Council and relocate to a site across the road in an area known locally as Bell’s land. This is a huge milestone for O’Dwyers and comes in their centenary year.
This deal will allow O’Dwyers upgrade to state of the art facilities which are sorely needed by this growing club in Balbriggan who saw their membership increase by 20% in 2017.
A detailed presentation was shown to members by Facilities Officer Francis McNulty who, along with local business owner and club sponsor Luke Moriarty, Club Trustee Dave Kelly and Club Chairman Liam Howley have worked tirelessly over the last two years in negotiations with Fingal County Council. Local Councillor Tony Murphy has also had a huge role to play in ensuring this proposal had everything that members will need.
O’Dwyers are extremely excited to get to work and ensure its future as the GAA club of Balbriggan for the next 100 years!
