Be prepared, Storm Callum & Storm Leslie on the way….

October 10, 2018 0

Update:  A yellow weather warning has been issued nationwide as high winds are set to batter the country over the coming days. The weather system, expected to be named Storm Callum today has been brewing to the north west and will hit Ireland tomorrow night. People have been urged to prepare for severe weather heading into the weekend as the effects of Hurricane Leslie, which is further to the south, will also be felt.

05-Oct-18: Tropical storm Leslie has been upgraded to a hurricane and looks set to hit Ireland next week, bringing strong winds and torrential rain. In the past day the storm has been upgraded to hurricane level and looks set to reach Ireland in the next ten days. On 19th September, Storm Ali brought down a number of trees and caused damage to houses around Balbriggan.  View photos from Storm Ali here.

With plenty of warning for the impending Storm Leslie, the weekend is looking like a good time to prepare for the storm.  Check your roof and gutters for damage or loose material. Replace any damaged or missing tiles.  Clear gutters, downpipes and shores of leaves and blockages so they don’t over flow after heavy rain Store or weigh down loose objects around your home like outdoor furniture, playground equipment and sheds.  Be storm ready!
