remember_us_special_needs_groupMany families got a much needed break when their sons/daughters were out on the camp for some days up to 8 hrs. Outings included a trip to Navan Adventure Centre where members participate in Footgolf, golf driving range, human foosball and much more. Arts n crafts with Bernie Davis, historical high jinks in Clonard house in Mullingar where members went back in time.

We also went to skills zone and tried our hand at baseball, basketball, putting and a whole load more, we did a nature day in Sonairte, members tried their hand at tennis in the Balrothery tennis club and cricket in North county cricket club and Balbriggan cricket club.

They also headed off to The Irish Military Ward museum in Collon where they got to ride a real tank. The wax museum was on the agenda another day along with W5 in Belfast. Astro park in Coolock was a big hit as was Clara Lara fun park in Wicklow.

Next we headed to Causey’s farm where they made brown bread, played the bowran, saw a sheep dog at work, jumped in the bog and much more. Ardgillan castle was next where activity nation put our members through their paces wall climbing, archery, paintball shooting and more.

We headed to the Helix for Hairspray the musical, also bowling, Beach Day and science workshop. Off to Newry we went to Slieve Gullion forest park where members went on the fairy trail and lots more.

A meal night to Harvey’s restaurant in Balbriggan was enjoyed by our adult members. Crystal maze was another trip where members participated in a series of challenges.

We finished off the camp with a closing party in the Bracken Court Hotel where our members were entertained by a magician and disco. The Lord Mayor of Fingal Mary McCambley, Brendan Ryan TD and Cllr Grainne Maguire popped in to say hello to our members and their families. We also had Spider-Man come along and members got their photos taken with him by Green Screen Photography.

So as you see we had a hectic summer here at Remember us!!!!!!! Members gain new experience and made new friends. What a social life the members of North Dublin had this summer!!! I am so sad it is all over as I enjoyed it thoroughly myself. So many happy smiley faces everyday and so many grateful families?

All of above would not be possible without the support or our amazing volunteers who gave up so much of their time to come and support our members week in week out. A million thanks to you all and as the song says “ye are simply the best”

We would also like to thank all the venues, tutors etc above for making us feel so welcome and for their support to us.

We would like to thank the bus companies Gormanston coaches and Nifty and their drivers for being so patient with us when we were not in a hurry home on our days out!!!!!! And Castleland Community Centre for the use of their facilities.

We would like also to thank Fingal County Council for their grant of €2,000 towards the summer camp

Members/volunteers are now taking a rest for a few weeks before we start our autumn programme of activities.
