Thank You

Remember Us has had a very busy and successful 2013! It celebrated its 15th Anniversary with a Disney Themed Party in the Bracken Court Hotel in April. With so much achieved in 2013 and so much to look forward to in 2014, Remember Us would like to take this opportunity to thank a few people, without whom, Remember Us and the work that the club does, would not be possible.

Thanks to the Department of Children & Youth Affairs Section, the HSE and Fingal County Council for the essential grants that they provide which are very much appreciated by all who benefit from them. Thanks also to Friends of Autism Charity shop, all of the local businesses in Balbriggan and everyone who made donations and who supported the various fundraising events. The club are extremely grateful for their support and look forward to it again this year. Many thanks to Millfield and to the Pavillions Shopping Centre for their support in our fundraising efforts in 2013. Remember Us looks forward to working with you all again in 2014.

Remember us offers the members a wide variety of activities and outings where they can learn, form friendships, develop their social and life skills, self esteem and quality of life and integrate into the community. Remember us not only caters for the young person/adult with special needs but the whole family by providing support, information, talks, Summer Programmes & the family respite breakaways and more. Remember us has always focused on the family as a complete unit and the respite breakaway trips involved the young people/adults with special needs, siblings, parents/carers. The integrated environment helps to dilute the social stigma often faced by families of a special needs young person. It also allowed the families to interact in a non structural environment that they may not have been able to create in everyday life.

Finally, Remember Us would like to express its gratitude to all of its fantastic volunteers and to Anne, Vera, and Eoghan the club’s Community Employment/TUS placements, without whom, club activities just would not be possible. Also, a big thank you to the TY Students from Ardgillen Community College who volunteered during the year.
