Remember Us Summer Camp Up & Running

July 18, 2016 0

Remember us special need charity summer camp is now up and running and our members are certainly going to busy.  We are running a six-week camp (4 days and one night per week) As you will see from the activities/outings we will be up and down the country and also local. We have over 150 members participating in the camp, some opting to participate every day for the six weeks and others choosing the days they available. The Summer months can be long for a young person with a disability and their families but Remember us fills those long days for them.

remember_us_special_needs_group_144x97When you see the photos this is what Remember us is all about.  Young people with special needs out having fun, making new friends, trying out new activities having a social life !!!and out and about in the community and all in a safe/secure environment.  No matter what the disability all are welcome.  Remember us provides a unique club for its members and their families.   Families are saying it is a “Lifeline” for them as a family.

Members aged 4 to 12 have their parent /carer assist them on the camp, teenage and adult members are assisted by our amazing volunteers.  A big thank you has to go out to them for giving up so much of their time to support our members. A big thank you also goes to  our CE and Tús Placements Matt, Eoghan, Martina and Igor for without our volunteers and CE/Tús we would not be able to run.

Remember us is very family orientated, siblings are welcome to attend and the parents that have attended so far are really enjoying the days out.

Here is a sample of some the trips organised. Clara Lara, Newbridge farm, high Jinks at Victorian Escapades in Mullingar, Sonartie Nature day, Laytown, Activity Nation (wall climbing, archery, glass sledging, team games) in Ardgillan, Causeys Experience (outside Kells) and more.  Check out our website for full list of our Summer camp www.rememberus.ie and hit the face book sign when in it and you will see photos each day from our trips.

We would also like to say a big Thank you to Fingal County council for their grant of €2,000 towards the camp.
