Remember Us Summer Programme Coming to an End

Remember Us six week summer programme is coming to an end. 140 young people aged 4 to adult plus their families participated. A very big thank you to everyone at Causey’s Experience who, as always, looked after us so well on Tuesday 15th July. Everyone had a wonderful time and of course the bog, as usual, was the highlight of the day The brown bread the members made was also lovely.

Thank you to Mouse, Turtle and Eagle at OWLS – The Turvey Park Experience – for a terrific afternoon on Wednesday 16th July. Remember Us had a great time and we look forward to visiting you again soon.

Xtreme at Courtlough, Balbriggan, hosted a great evening of falconry and archery for our Adult group on Wednesday evening 16th July and some of our VERY nervous adults/volunteers provided additional entertainment for the young people.

remember_us_summer_programme_2014_5Remember Us had a great day out of Thusday 17th July when we visited Lullymore Heritage Park, near Rathangan, Co. Kildare. The Cool Gang particularly really enjoyed the Crazy golf and our younger members had a wonderful time in the play areas. Thank you for looking after us so well.

Saturday 19th July saw our first visit of the Summer Programme to Dublin Zoo. Our adult group always love this day out and the tigers and feeding the sea lions were the highlights for our members. We would particularly like to thank Tom Kilmurray who who took the time guide and talk us around the African plains. It was very educational for members and volunteers alike and Remember Us really appreciate it.

We began the second week of our summer programme with a visit to Buck Mooneys near Kells, Co. Meath. Thank you for looking after us so well. All our members had a great time.

Thank you to Craig Steven of Mad Science Ireland who did three workshops with our members on Wednesday 23rd July – our 4 to 12 year old members from 1pm to 2pm, our 13 to 17 year old members from 2.15pm to 3.15pm both in Flemington Community Centre, Balbriggan, and a third workshop for our adult group in Fingallians GAA Club, Swords from 7pm to 8pm. Thank you so much for taking the time to do these entertaining and educational workshops for our members. Remember Us really appreciate it.

remember_us_summer_programme_2014_6Thursday 24th July saw us visit Kildare maze near Prosperous, Co. Kildare. Everyone had a great time and really enjoyed the crazy golf. We particularly liked the hedge maze in which several of our volunteers wandered around lost for some time. A thoroughly enjoyable day was had by all at Remember Us

One of the big nights out of the summer for our adult group was attending the show “Dirty Dancing” in the Bord Gais Theatre on Friday night, 25th July. The Cool Rockers absolutely love music and musicals. Many said this was one of the best shows they had gone to. A terrific night was had by both members and volunteers.

Buck Mooneys near Kells welcomed our adult group on Saturday 26th July. Members enjoyed Line dancing, Pillow fights, country music, Wagon trip, seeing the animals and finally the BBQ. Thank you again to everyone at Buck Mooneys for looking after us so well this week.

Week 3 of our Summer Programme will see us visit Kia Ora Mini Farm, Gorey on Tuesday 29th July and Dublin Zoo on Thursday 31st July. We also have a Playball session for our 4 to 17 year old members in Flemington Community Centre on Wednesday afternoon and a First Aid course for our adult members in Fingallians GAA Club, Swords on Wednesday evening. Remember Us are looking forward to another great week and to seeing all our members there. Thank you to everyone at Kia Ora Mini Farm for a wonderful day out on Tuesday 29th July. The Fire Engine, Go Karts and diggers were particularly popular and our members had a great day.

Our members had a terrific time at Playball in Flemington Community Centre on Wednesday afternoon, 30th July 2014. Thank you to everyone involved.

Thursday 31st July saw our second visit of the Summer Programme to Dublin Zoo when we visited with some of our 4 to 17 year old members and their families.. This is always a popular day out and everyone had a great time.

remember_us_summer_programme_2014_4Berni Adamson of Berrick Occupational First Aid delivered a very educational and enjoyable First Aid course to our Cool Rockers on Wednesday night. Our members thoroughly enjoyed it and everyone at Remember Us appreciates the support we have received from Berni and Berrick Occupational first Aid.

Tuesday 5th August saw a day out in Tayto park where the members had a brilliant day trying out zip wire, trampoline, looking at the animals, playing in the playgrounds and watching a magic show and much more.

Wednesday 6th August saw our adult members go bowling in Alsaa. An enjoyable evening was had by all and some very high scores also.

Thursday 7th August the group went on a trip to Glendelough where they did many walks, played games, had a picnic and even dipped their toes in the water.

On Saturday 9th August our adult members went to Tayto and after a big shower the day brighten up nicely and the members really enjoyed it. They took the tour of the tayto factory, fired water balloons, went on zip wire, watched tigers been fed and much more

Tuesday 12th saw the group going to the Baldonnel Aerodrome where they saw old planes in the museum, sat In a cockpit of an old plane, saw helicopters, fire engines and even held a falcon and a hawk.

remember_us_summer_programme_2014_2Wednesday 13th will sees our 4 – 17 year old members participating in a Fit for fun session and will will see our adult members going to the Rainforest golf centre in Dundrum

Thursday 14th the group are off to the outdoor activity centre in Larch Hill to participate in nature bus hunt, archery, orienteering, grass sledges, nightline and more

Saturday 16th the adult members are off for a tour of Croke Park

Tuesday 19th we are off to Clara Lara, in Wicklow for more outdoor activities

Wednesday 20th we are all off to the beach (weather permitting ) to have a sandcastle competition and games and maybe get our toes wet.!! 2 – 4 pm Wed 20th sees our adult members going for a meal to the Strand Bar in Rush

Thursday 21st see us off to the Crystal Maze in Kells for a serious of challenges. Friday 22nd members and their families will attend a shorts n shades party (see events page) And finally Saturday 23rd see the end of our summer programme with a family fun day (see events page)

Our parents are off for a well deserved parent/carers respite break to Hotel Kilkenny mid September for 2 nights.

OUR CLUB NIGHTS/DAYS WILL RESUME AGAIN ON Saturday 13th September. Keep an eye on our website for upcoming activities.
