Ryan “Cautious Welcome to latest Coastal Erosion Report”

June 7, 2018 0

Brendan Ryan. Labour Party TD for Dublin Fingal, has cautiously welcomed a report issued by Fingal County Council to the Coastal Liaison Group updating them on the plans to tackle Coastal Erosion at Portrane. Ryan “Whilst the Report is short on specifics it does suggest that some progress is being made and that the Office of Public Works and the National Parks and Wildlife Service are involved in finding a solution to protect the homes and businesses at The Burrow in Portrane. This seems to be the first engagement with the National Parks and Wildlife Services, who in the past have been seen as an absent actor on this issue and it is good that they are finally around the table and involved.

Ryan “Minister Kevin Boxer Moran has been pressuring Fingal County Council to find a solution following his visit on my invitation, to The Burrow earlier this year. He tasked the Council with finding not only a long term solution but also short term emergency measures to protect the homes most imminently under threat. I have been in regular contact with the Minister since that visit and he has been very hands on with this issue.”

Ryan “I will be expecting a further update in the coming weeks and in the meantime I will be praying for the weather to remain fine and for there to be no further damage before measures can finally be agreed and implemented”
