Show Racism the red card initiative – Glebe North FC

October 9, 2016 0

Between 6th and 20th October 2016, all over Europe, actions are taking place to make a stand against racism within football from clubs like ours to national league clubs in Ireland and other countries and also at international games and Champions League matches.  Glebe North believes the values of sport are for fairplay and to achieve our goals we need teamwork, communication and trust among teammates and all involved within the club. The spirit of fairplay is for a level playing field for all and that means there can be no tolerance for racism and any form of discrimination.

This morning the under 11 Girls Team played their league match against Stamullen AFC in Pump Lane Balbriggan.

Glebe won the match but the real winner of today was the FAIR PLAY and the RESPECT in which Glebe North FC strongly believe: the girls of both teams lined up and exchange champions league handshake prior to kick off as sign of respect, posing  for photo holding up “show racism the red card” cards and wearing special Bibs saying NO TO RACISM – UEFA RESPECT DIVERSITY.

Glebe North FC thank very much the Girls, parents and managers of Stamullen AFC for taking part to this important initiative.
