Special Olympics Success for Team Ireland

Team Ireland’s 88 athletes who took part in the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games, were welcomed back at Dublin Airport on 4th August by hundreds of screaming fans.  The team took home a total of 82 medals 26 Gold, 28 Silver and 28 Bronze medals along with 41 Placement Ribbons and 31 individual person bests!

Medals were claimed in all 12 sports that Team Ireland competed in. special_olympics_2015With 6,500 athletes and 2,000 coaches representing 165 countries, along with 30,000 volunteers and an anticipated 500,000 spectators, the 2015 Special Olympics World Games is the largest sports and humanitarian event this year. Well done to all the athletes who took part and Team Ireland on a very successful Special Olympics 2015.
